A fresh Start
Well, yes, it very much is, and here's the reasoning for it.
1. Storywise, it was a bloody mess to try and deal with what was happening. Not that I "need the misery" so to say..but rather things were drawing out FAR to long and I just couldn't reconcile what was happening in the strip.
In other words, I was tired of watching it drag down like a weighted corpse.
2. I was debating doing a hard reboot when I rebooted back in January (or February...or whenever it was)...but I figured I'ld get killed.
In other words, this really should have happened this spring...but I didn't have the balls to do it then...so I'm doing it now.
3. I DO want to compile ABH into book form. Which I could not do given what I had in front of me. In order to publish a book, I NEED the story from top to bottom...not from middle to end to begining.
So, I could either wait untill things wrapped up with this series...move onto the follow up series (yes, there is at least one more series that I want to see out there when it's all said and done) and then try and finish up ABH...or I just do what I should have done from the bloody begining. Which is START FROM THE TOP LIKE I SHOULD HAVE.
In other words...this is an attempt to fix things once and for all.
4. My art sucked. It sucked in horrible sucky sucky suck suck ways that I did not want to see published in book form. This is MY WAY of fixing it.

Really...it's bloody AWEFUL.

as to starting over, i don't mind. i love archives and i love your work, put those together an you have a wonderous combination. i look forward to whatever direction you take with the comic.

Glad to have you back in the saddle. I don't mind the tweaks and retunes. It makes for an interesting read.
I especially enjoy the day to day comparisons to the 2004 original. You really ought to keep those around (maybe in another "before I was good" book - not to say that those weren't head and shoulders above anything I could ever do...).
I knew you would eventually get around to filling in the "end of the beginning" and the whole missing middle years, but to reboot the whole comic i did not think you'ld do it in the middle of an arc. I how you will refine your art so no suck suck sucky suck suck any more. be well, kiss your love and get to work. You have much to do so don't rush, a little every day (kiss the wife, play with the dog, take pencil in hand and draw a panel or two, have a lovely beverage, and most important smell the roses.
Heya, Jason. Glad to have you back - and it's been over a year since I read those older archives, so to have them back and shiny-new is good (and still good reading).
Out of curiousity, would you be interested in some (free) proofreading? I don't know if you care about spelling whoopsies (most people don't), but if you ARE thinking about getting this published you might want some basic editing. As somebody who's a working editor, I'll also glady volunteer for some proofreading work if you need it.
Just a quick question, though...with the reboot, how far does the "redoing" the art go? 'Cause a lot of your work later on was awesome (right around the time Chris became a major character), and there's something to be said for "art in the moment."
